Blue Star Heating & Air Conditioning

Commercial HVAC for Contra Costa Businesses

Rooftop units and splits for local businesses

Blue Star handles heating and air for the kinds of buildings most of East and Central Contra Costa is made of: offices, retail storefronts, restaurants, light industrial shops and apartment buildings. Most of that equipment is rooftop package units and split systems, and that is where we work. We repair units when they fail, replace them when they are worn out, and maintain them on a schedule so the summer heat doesn't find the weak unit for you.

Why choose Blue Star

We are a licensed C-20 contractor on the Wilbur Ave industrial corridor in Antioch, licensed since 2006, with residential, apartment and commercial customers. What most business owners want is simple: a straight answer about whether a unit is worth fixing, a quote that holds, and a crew that keeps disruption low while the business stays open. We have our own 50-foot lift and a forklift for rooftop and equipment work, and we accept cash, checks and credit cards.

  • Rooftop package units
  • Split systems and gas packs
  • Repair, replace or maintain
  • Quotes before work begins
  • Permits handled on installs
  • Lift and forklift on hand

Where we work

Our shop on Wilbur Ave sits in northeast Antioch's industrial corridor, a short drive from the Railroad Ave and Leland Rd business districts in Pittsburg, the Lone Tree Way retail corridor shared by Antioch and Brentwood, and the logistics development on Oakley's former DuPont site. Farther west, we serve offices and storefronts in Concord, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek and Martinez. Rooftop units here face 100-degree afternoons, Delta wind that packs condenser coils with dust, and smoke seasons that load filters fast.

Colton was great. He found the problem right away and did a temporary fix to get my a/c running until he could get the right part ordered. He also made sure every inside was working well.

Questions we hear

What kinds of commercial buildings do you work on?

Mostly the light commercial buildings common in Contra Costa: offices, retail shops and strip centers, restaurants, small warehouses and light industrial spaces, churches, and apartment buildings. These usually run rooftop package units or split systems, and that equipment is our focus. Large central plants with chillers and cooling towers are a different specialty, and we will tell you plainly if a building is outside what we do.

Do you work on rooftop package units?

Yes. Rooftop package units, including gas-electric packs and heat pump packages, make up a large share of the commercial equipment in our area. We diagnose and repair them, maintain them, and replace them, including curb adapters when a new unit's footprint doesn't match the old curb. Larger units may need a crane, which we schedule and coordinate with you and, when required, the city.

Can you service equipment without shutting our business down?

Usually. Most rooftop and split system repairs happen on the roof or in a mechanical closet, so customers and staff keep working. For replacements, we plan the swap to keep the heating or cooling outage short, and where a building has several units we replace them one at a time so part of the space stays conditioned. If a job needs a specific day, we sort that out when we quote.

Do you offer maintenance agreements for commercial buildings?

Yes. Commercial units run long hours and sit in sun and dust, so they need more regular attention than a home system. We set up maintenance on a schedule that fits your equipment and budget, usually covering filters, belts, coils, drains, refrigerant pressures and the heating section, with notes on each unit after every visit. Our commercial maintenance page has the details.

Do you pull permits for commercial HVAC replacements?

Yes. A commercial equipment replacement generally needs a mechanical permit from the city, or from Contra Costa County for unincorporated areas like Bay Point and Discovery Bay. California's Energy Code also sets requirements for economizers and controls, and it can require heat pump equipment on some replacements. We handle the permit and inspection so you aren't left sorting out code questions on your own.
